2024 Syllabus - Percussion

Participants in Primary, Elementary & Junior must perform two (2) selections of contrasting styles. It is encouraged that pieces include any two of keyboard percussion, tympani or snare drum.

Participants in Intermediate must perform two (2) selections of contrasting styles to include work on any two of mallets, tympani or snare drum:
– One selection for Keyboard Percussion (e.g. marimba, vibraphone, xylophone)
– One Selection for Timpani, multi-percussion or Snare Drum.

Participants in Senior and Advanced must perform three (3) selections consisting of contrasting styles to include work on any of two of mallets, tympani or snare drum.
– One (1) selection for Keyboard Percussion (e.g. marimba, vibraphone, xylophone)
– One (1) Selection for Timpani, multi-percussion or Snare Drum.
– One (1) own choice selection.

Solo - first instrument

All Percussion instruments are acceptable. Memorization is required at the Advanced level and is encouraged at other levels. Time limit for each selection: 7 min

Participants wishing to be considered for Provincials must play in two percussion classes. All Percussion instruments are acceptable Memorization is required at the Advanced level and is encouraged at other levels. Time limit for each selection: 7 min
