Sing an operatic aria in the language in which it was written. In classes separated into male and female, entrants are welcome to enter where they feel comfortable as we want to respect the individual's right to sing in any voiced category based on their identity.

Perform two musically contrasting selections in at least two languages, taken from approved syllabi. Time limit for all categories is 15 min
Provincial finalists may be selected from this qualifying class or from their overall achievement in individual solo classes.
Perform a selection in any language taken from the current syllabi. Songs may be transposed to suit vocal development. In classes separated into male and female, entrants are welcome to enter where they feel comfortable as we want to respect the individual's right to sing in any voiced category based on their identity.
Perform an original classical composition by a Canadian composer. Approved syllabi have suitable material.
**Note: Folksong arrangements must be sung in either "Traditional Folk" or "French Song" classes, not here**
Perform a classical church solo (not taken from an oratorio, cantata or motet) in your choice of language.
Perform a selection from a standard repertoire of English language.
Perform a selection in French by a French composer, or composed in the French language, with piano accompaniment. Traditional French songs or French-Canadian folk songs are acceptable. Approved syllabi also have suitable material.
Perform a selection in German by a German composer, or composed in the German language.
Perform an arrangement of a spiritual or gospel song in any voice.
Perform a humorous piece in any genre such as parlour songs or songs from cabarets, light opera, etc. Props and costumes are not allowed.
Perform a selection in Italian from classical Italian vocal literature.
**Note: Oratorios should be entered in the appropriate Oratorio class**
Perform one selection of light opera (i.e. Gilbert & Sullivan, Lehar, Strauss, Romberg, etc). Please use live accompaniment.
Perform one or two classical songs in any language. Performers will receive feedback from the adjudicator but not marks or placements, and will not be eligible for prizes or Provincials.
Perform an aria from any standard Oratorio, or a Requiem, Cantata, Motet or Mass in any language.
Perform two classical songs in any language.
Perform a selection in Spanish by a Spanish composer or composed in the Spanish language.
Perform a traditional folk song with piano accompaniment. A traditional folk song may be arranged but is not composed.
**Note: Contemporary Folk (by 20th and 21st century songwriters) is to be performed in Pop classes **
