Mr. and Mrs. David Smith donated this trophy in memory of their son, David, who had competed in the Stratford Music Festival on numerous occasions. It was first presented in 1973 to the winner in class 110, Boys' Solo (Oratorio), 15 years and under - the last class that David had competed in at the Festival.
This trophy was first presented to a male unchanged vocalist in an Oratorio Class.
It has been reassigned to the Later Stages vocal classes.
