Criteria: Strings Duets
On January 18, 1927, at St. James' Church Parish Hall, the Perth County Music Teachers' Federation held its first Annual Convention. At this meeting, W. B. Rothwell made a speech on the "Music Festival". An interested group of the music teachers present decided to go ahead immediately with plans for a new Music Festival to be under the control of their Federation. The First "Musical Festival" was held in Stratford on May 9, 10 and 11, 1927, with 322 competitors.
This group and its successor, The Stratford Music Teachers' Association, organized and ran this successful musical event for 25 years, at which time they turned it over to the Kiwanis Club of Stratford. Even after 1952, members of the Stratford Music Teachers' Association continued to serve the Kiwanis Music Festival by serving on the Music Selection Committee.
This trophy was originally presented for strings 15 - 17 years but has been assigned to strings duets.
