Marianne Kelly donated this trophy in loving memory of her father, Gerhard Wiedman.
Gerhard immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1950 and married Gabriele Lock in 1960. Together they operated a successful delicatessen for over 30 years.
Gerhard played the guitar and enjoyed singing in choirs in his youth. He was a founding member of the Stratford Teutonia Choir, where he served as president for many years and sang in the choir for over five decades. He passed on his love of music to his two daughters, Marianne and Christine, and inspired Marianne to pursue a career in music. The girls fondly remember practising at the piano with their father in preparation for many Kiwanis Music Festival competitions.
This trophy was donated in Gerhard's honour to recognize his lifelong love and support of music and the arts.
