Jamie has been an aficionado of musical theatre ever since he was cast as Winthrop in "The Music Man." In much more recent years, he has been Music Director for productions of "In the Heights," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," "Matilda: the Musical," "All Together Now" and others. He particularly enjoys working with amateur casts that include kids, teens and adults.
Jamie co-founded B. S. (Bailey-Syer) Productions in 2017, a community theatre company which produces musicals annually in central Alberta. Brian Bailey and Jamie Syer wrote, composed and produced the original musical "Camp Spartan" in 2022. In February 2024, B. S. Productions, with Jamie as Music Director, presents a fully-staged production of "Anne of Green Gables—The Musical."
Jamie holds a Doctorate in piano performance from Yale University. He was Dean of the Victoria (B.C.) Conservatory of Music until returning to Alberta in 2012. With his wife and musical partner, violinist Laurie Syer, he lives in the rural community of Bergen, where their summertime activities include producing sourdough bread and croissants from a wood-fired brick oven.

He lives in Stratford with his 2 children and partner.
Having enjoyed living in Stratford for periods over the years, Keith is thrilled to finally be a permanent resident! Feeling blessed and grateful, his life in the theatre as composer, musical director, song writer, actor, singer, recording session conductor and sound designer has included 28 seasons at The Stratford Festival and has taken him across North America and overseas.
Keith fondly recalls that the last time he worked on a project with his wife Chris (coincidently also directed by Diana Leblanc) was when they first met 16 years ago!
