Diana has worked not only in the theatre but in radio, directing 75 one-minute radio dramas for the Bronfman Heritage Minutes series, when it evolved from film into radio. She has directed at the Stratford Festival including the acclaimed 2022 production of Three Tall Women starring Martha Henry in her final stage appearance; at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa; at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal; and at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto. She has also directed productions for the Canadian Opera Company, Calgary Opera, Pacific Opera Victoria and the International Opera Centrum in Amsterdam.
In 2015, she received a Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, Canada's highest honour in the performing arts, for her work in theatre. She has also received the Gascon-Thomas Award from the National Theatre School of Canada and a Gemini Award.
Stephen Woodjetts has been a music director, conductor, and composer, across Canada, for the past fifty years. He is the recipient of 4 Betty Mitchell awards, 4 Guthrie awards, and a Dora Mavor Moore award.
Scott began acting at the young age of seven. He has voiced over 20 different cartoons, commercials, and radio dramas. One of his cartoons, Peep and the Big Wide World, won a Daytime Emmy Award. He starred in the small budget films Your Beautiful Cul-De-Sac Home (2007) and Summerhood (2008), both of which screened at various film festivals before going straight to DVD. His feature film debut was in Victoria Day (2009). In 2006 Beaudin spent a season at the Stratford Festival playing "The Artful Dodger" in the musical Oliver! opposite Colm Feore as Fagin, and then reprised his role for Theatre Aquarius' production of Oliver! in Hamilton, Ontario.
Barbara Dunn-Prosser has performed as a soloist with most major symphonies and in theatres across North America. Barbara holds a B.A., M.A. and B.Ed. from Queen's University and is an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in both voice and piano. She is a member of the College of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music and has served on the executive of the Ontario Chapter and as District Governor. She is a professor emeritus in voice from Western University in London, and now teaches privately in Stratford, Ontario.
Jamie has been an aficionado of musical theatre ever since he was cast as Winthrop in "The Music Man." In much more recent years, he has been Music Director for productions of "In the Heights," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," "Matilda: the Musical," "All Together Now" and others. He particularly enjoys working with amateur casts that include kids, teens and adults.
Jamie co-founded B. S. (Bailey-Syer) Productions in 2017, a community theatre company which produces musicals annually in central Alberta. Brian Bailey and Jamie Syer wrote, composed and produced the original musical "Camp Spartan" in 2022. In February 2024, B. S. Productions, with Jamie as Music Director, presents a fully-staged production of "Anne of Green Gables—The Musical."
Jamie holds a Doctorate in piano performance from Yale University. He was Dean of the Victoria (B.C.) Conservatory of Music until returning to Alberta in 2012. With his wife and musical partner, violinist Laurie Syer, he lives in the rural community of Bergen, where their summertime activities include producing sourdough bread and croissants from a wood-fired brick oven.
Renate's theatre work across Canada includes the Stratford Festival, National Arts Centre, Blyth Festival, Grand Theatre, Neptune Theatre, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Manitoba Opera, Rainbow Stage, Theatre Calgary, Théâtre français de Toronto, Richmond Gateway Theatre, Mirvish Productions. Touring in rural Canada and Japan. Circus in Quebec, Canada and Catskills, New York. Training at National Theatre School of Canada.
This is Rod's second adventure in choral singing. His first was 63 years ago as a boy soprano in Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana". He has not been asked since until this concert.
Kiki is a grade 10 student in the Integrated Arts Program at Eastwood Collegiate Institute. She has competed at the Stratford Kiwanis Festival, OMFA provincial finals, and NATS. Last summer she played Minnie in the Canadian premier of The Battle of Boat with The Singers Theater. She is very excited to perform in Anne of Green Gables and thanks everyone involved for their hard work.
Paul was an active member of barbershop and vocal jazz groups, choirs and quartets, and sang duets and solos. Paul sang on the international stage and on TV. Beyond his usual math and science regime, he taught grade 10-12 drama, taught children music, and helped prepare various shows. He is very happy to take part in this year's show. Talitha enjoys musical performance, and is nearly 12 years old. She has taken on major and minor roles in dramatic productions such as Matilda and Mulan.
She won 1st place singing in school competitions in 2019 and 2023. She performed both songs with choreography that she came up with herself.
Talitha thinks that the arts festivals are one of the most exciting things about Stratford. She is so glad to be able to meet and work with professionals in the field of music and acting. Her dream is to pursue it further and make it a career.
Noah is 11 years old. He has been a music student of Kathleen Promane for two and a half years.
Noah performed in a recital in May 2023. He performed 2 solos; The Wind and Dumb Dog. He also sang Hard Knock Life in the choir.
In his spare time, Noah enjoys crocheting, drawing and singing.
Noah is excited to be part of Anne of Green Gables.
Ilona can typically be found behind the scenes organizing events, helping backstage, and being her family's glue. In a bit of a change from the usual, she decided it would be fun to be a citizen of Avonlea (and she was right). She says thank you to Anne's incredible creative team and her fabulous family.
Tabitha is in Grade 5 at Anne Hathaway and is very excited to be involved with the Kiwanis Festival again, where she has participated with her school as part of choral presentations and appeared as The Elf in Marc Le Magicien. Other credits include Child Future in What If If Only (Stratford Festival DWP) and The Really Scared Chicken in Le Ciel Tombe (Anne Hathaway.) She likes swimming, watching the Blue Jays, and poutine.
Ella Cave is a grade 4 student from Perth East. This is her first time singing in the Kiwanis festival. Ella loves basketball, art, photography, cooking and music. Ella has been enjoying singing lessons for 2 years now and has been singing with her Dad since she was a toddler.
Lyla is a Gr. 2 student from Thamesford. She has been taking music lessons (piano and voice) for 3 years and loves to perform! Lyla is also the official singer of the national anthem for the Thamesford Trojans Junior C hockey team. She loves fashion, sketching her design ideas, swimming and her dog Bruno.
Elizabeth has been involved in community theatre in Stratford and St Mary's for many years, and loves to sing in choirs when she can. She works at the United Way Perth Huron as a fundraiser and is a freelance writer for Huron Perth Boomers Magazine. She is honoured to be part of the "great workers for the cause" called Kiwanis Music Festival!
Meaghan is a mom of three and biostatistician in Stratford, Ontario. She is excited to be a part of this production!
Esmé is a Grade 5 student at Romeo public school. This is her first year at the Kiwanis Festival and is really enjoying it. She is a dancer at On Stage dance studio and comes from a theatre family so she has been to lots of festivals. She is currently playing the Queen of Hearts in her school production of Alice in Wonderland. She enjoys dance, acting, singing, and badminton. She would like to thank her friends and family who have supported her throughout this program.
Kathy lives in Stratford with her husband Denis. They are blessed with 3 sons, their wives, 3 grandchildren and 3 grand dogs. Kathy also sings with a group of lovely ladies called Kinnaris. She is really enjoying the experience of being in this production of Anne of Green Gables and the wonderful talented professionals teaching us and her fellow performers.
Elena's dream growing up was to be an opera singer. Well, that, and changing the world! Careerwise she entered the field of human rights but art has always been an important part of her life journey. She's been a member of her school choir and in an a cappella women group in Romania, her native country, but Anne of Green Gables is her first musical. Her love of art brought her to St. Marys where her visual artist partner and herself transformed a historical house into a private art gallery/museum. More info: www.artofideasgallery.com. This marks Alicia's first singing performance since grade three, and she is proud to be a part of 'Anne of Green Gables'. Thanks to the creative team for their wonderful work. Alicia spends her weekdays working with an exceptional team that crafts medical illustrations, animations and interactive experiences. Off-duty, she finds joy in yoga, family time, and books.
Maija, a fourth-grader from Stratford, has been taking vocal lessons for one year. She loves art, singing, acro, and playing with friends and her cat, Sophie. Stepping onto the stage for her first-ever performance, she's excited about the learning and growth she's experienced through this adventure, thanks to the wonderful creative team.
Sarah is a Stratford local who's very pleased to sing with this fabulous group. In her free time she enjoys finding creative ways to have less free time. Enjoy the show!
Twenty-odd years of retirement have given Linda time to do the things she always wanted to try. Now an established watercolour artist, she felt that the Kiwanis Festival's 2024 musical production of "Anne of Green Gables" would give her another "string to her bow". She has enjoyed the time in rehearsals for the show and looks forward to performing in the real thing.
Rose is a grade 5 student in Stratford. She studies singing and piano with Brooke Dufton and has performed in NATS and ORMTA festivals. This is her first Kiwanis Festival, and she is loving being part of Anne of Green Gables! She also loves art, creating stories and spending time with her animals, friends and family.
Georgina Hughson is in grade 7 at Stratford Intermediate School, where her favourite subject is language. She loves music, rock climbing, and karate. She would like to thank all the people involved in Anne for making it such a great experience.
Lorraine is a retired lady, who has been singing since her 1-room S.S.#6 Hibbert school days, when the Music teacher traveled from School to School to give classes. She sang in the Mitchell High School Glee Club in the 1970's and has been a member of the Sing for the Joy of It Community Choir for several sessions. She actually visited the Anne of Green Gables Heritage Site in PEI but had never seen any stage productions of this familiar story. Lorraine has now stepped out of her comfort zone to participate in the Anne: The Musical. And is thoroughly enjoying the process and working with the Cast and Creative Team. Thanks goes to all her past (and present) Music teachers, and those who encouragement and support mean so much.
Naia is a grade 4 student in Stratford. She studies dance at Infinity Studios, and singing and piano with Brooke Dufton and has won prizes performing in NATS and ORMTA competitions in 2022 and 2023. She also loves art, baking, swimming, and knitting. Naia is excited to be part of Anne of Green Gables in her first Kiwanis festival!
Jonah Aron Manley is 17 years old and home schooled. He enjoys writing
and telling stories, as well as singing and playing the piano.
Linda lives on a farm outside Stratford with her husband and quite a few sheep. She was inspired by the Anne show in Charlottetown last summer.
Gordon is very excited to be a part of Anne of Green Gables with this wonderful group of people. He is in Grade 4 at Bedford Public School. Last year his class participated in Kiwanis and the Ontario Music Festival for choral singing. Gordon played Pirate Captain in BPS's junior musical production of "High Seas."
In his spare time he enjoys playing hockey, baseball, soccer, piano, and rubik's cube.
Erica Mohr began her musical journey at the age of 10 when she joined the St Mary's Children's Choir. She sang with the choir for 3 years under Eileen Baldwin. She also enjoyed singing in th choir at St James Anglican Choir and later, at First St Paul's Lutheran Church. Over the past 25 years, Erica has sung with Nith Valley Singers under conductor Alfred Kunz. She was also a member of Grand River Voices under the leadership of Amy D'Nino. She is currently a member of Sing for the Joy of It led Dan Van Winden. In her spare time, Erica enjoys time with her family and her horses!
Aoife Odell is a Grade 6 student at Little Falls Public School in St. Marys. She likes listening to music, editing videos, sketching, geography, reading and cubing. She has been taking vocal lessons for two years. This is her first year singing solo at Kiwanis and though she's scared out of her wits, she's excited and very happy to be in the Anne of Green Gables production.
Amy was born and raised in East Zorra Tavistock. Growing up she took piano lessons and would perform at nursing homes on PA Days. In Grade 7 and 8, she learned the flute, and was the percussionist for the Hickson Public School Band. At the Huron Park Secondary School, she learned the alto and tenor saxophone, trumpet, french horn and violin. She went to study a Bachelor of Music at the University of Windsor, and got pushed by Dr. Tim Shantz to focus on vocal. Amy moved a few years ago to Stratford and cannot wait to learn more!
Carol grew up in Stratford, attending opera ( first opera: Amahl and the Night Visitors on T.V. In 1957 ), operettas, ballet, and chamber recitals, and competing in the Kiwanis Music Festival. She has sung in choirs most of her life, and has appeared in several amateur and university productions in choral, dance, instrumental, and walk-on roles. She holds a degree in music history from U.of T., where she concentrated on early music. As pianist, she has played in many solo and collaborative recitals in Stratford and area. She is music director at Community of Christ.
Kelley Teahen serves as Vice President, Communications and Marketing, for Parachute, Canada's national charity dedicated to injury prevention. Her career in journalism and later communications included a stint as Media Manager for the Stratford Festival. She began her singing career annoying her older brother singing along to TV commercials: He would say, "Mother, please make her stop!" High school choir, University of Waterloo Chamber Choir, Halifax Papal Choir, Karen Schuessler Singers in London Ont., the first Grand Night for Stratford cancer fundraiser, Bert Carrière's concert version of Pirates of Penzance. Meredith teaches organizational behaviour and leadership at Wilfrid Laurier University. Locally, she has sung with Sing For The Joy of It and Festival Sounds Chorus. A fellow freckleface, Meredith has loved Anne and her musical for decades. She lives in Stratford with her husband Tristan and their black lab, Midnight.
