Doug Balfour is a versatile musician from Toronto who has performed across the country for more than forty years. He is skilled in many styles of music, from hard stomping boogie woogie, to swinging velvet jazz standards, and even dabbling in classical accompaniment. He has worked extensively as a music director for such shows as Forever Plaid, Forever Swing, Pump Boys and Dinettes, and Ain’t Misbehaving. He also is an accomplished accompanist, working with singers like Leisa Way, Lee Aaron, and Karin Plato.
Doug is a veteran rock and roll player, performing for many years with the Canadian touring band,the Fridgidaires.
In 2022, Doug wrote the arrangements and led the band for the opening portion of the International AIDS Conference at Montreal’s Palais de Congrés , featuring chanteuse Barbara Lewis.
Currently he is a member of Toronto’s legendary R and B band, Robbie Lane and the Disciples, and performs with the Wintergarten Orchestra, a 1920s style jazz cabaret . Earlier this year , he performed two solo piano concerts for the Barrie Jazz and Blues Festival. He continues to perform at clubs and festivals with the vocal/piano duo Suzi and Doug.
