2027 Syllabus (subject to final changes coming from OMFA) - Original Composition
Composition refers to creating an original piece or work of music, either vocal or instrumental and refers to the structure of a musical piece or to the process of creating or writing a new piece of music.
A competitor's composition will be adjudicated on originality and competence in handling form, harmony, melody and rhythm.
Only competitors in the 'With Performance Video' classes may submit an accompanying performance video. Please note that performers may be the composer or individuals that the composer has asked to perform their composition but the performers will not be adjudicated.
Pop compositions are not permitted in this category.
Scores must be clear and legible. The beginning of each line must have a bar number. Scores must be uploaded by the competitor's deadline.
Teacher assistance in scoring is not permitted.
Solos & Ensembles WITHOUT Performance Video
